New Music, Next Wave
Kronos Quartet, Icebreaker, and the Bang On A Can All Stars: they were the life force behind the revitalization of the new music movement in the 1980s and 1990s. This concert is by the "next wave" Face the Music's players were all born in 1995 or later. Three signature works: Yo Shakespeare (Icebreaker), Lick (Bang On A Can All Stars) show an affinity with rock music, while Different Trains combines minimalist techniques with the legacy of 1970s "tape music." The concert will start with a work by the new generation: Inseguimento, written for Face the Music by one of its own players, the guitarist Jack Gulielmetti.
