This is a Sell-Out event!

Colorful actors present six dramatic performances depicting snapshots in the lives of Sebastopol residents that made an impact on the community.  Each person has a unique story and vignettes are designed tell a little of their life and to deliver a bit of history on our local characters.

The evening begins with a Soup, salad, antipasto, and bread supper, held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church located at
500 Robinson Road (off Bodega Avenue) in Sebastopol. Plenty of event parking is available at the Church.  Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your show time.
After supper, your group will be lead to Sebastopol Memorial Lawn Cemetery by a tour guide with music accompaniment of the very popular Hubbub Club who describe themselves as "a cross between a New Orleans marching band and a Fellini movie".
At the Cemetery, your tour guide will lead you through the luminary-lit route to each of the six vignettes which include:

Louise Collinet DuFranc    1860-1954
Louise Collinet was born in Paris, France.  Widowed at 22, and in ill health she sought a warmer climate in Egypt and Palestine working as a maid.   Learning of the Alaskan gold rush, Louise and her son, Henri relocated to America.  When an avalanche took all their belongings, they came to San Francisco.  She was married briefly to Vital DuFranc.   By 1918 Louise had sufficient assets to buy a ranch in Sebastopol where she spent her remaining days.

Emma Burbank Beeson    1854-1927
Emma was Luther Burbanks sister and was devoted to him and his work. All the members of the Burbank family were devoted to the cause of Prohibition, and Emma was involved in the Temperance movement.  Emma rallies a group of Womens Christian Temperance Union members to picket Sebastopol bars.

John Hypolyte Bonnardel   1839-1902
John was born in France.  After immigrating to California, he established a vineyard-winery on his property in Sebastopol and a saloon in town.  He deeded his property to his daughter Benoite Bonnardel Wallace in in 1897.  Mrs. Wallace subdivided the Bonnardel-Wallace tract in 1904.

William Dutch Bill Howard   1823-1899
As the North Pacific Coast Railroad was being built from Sausalito to Gualala in the 1870s, M.C. Meeker set about building Occidental into a real town.  Meeker claims to have named Occidental after the nearby school district. William Howard had accumulated over 400 acres in the Occidental area by that time which was adjacent to M.C. Meekers timber lands. The Howard Ranch was called Howards up until the late 1800s.  As Occidental grew, various important buildings were either located on Meeker land or Howard land, thus the confusion about whether the town was named Howards or Occidental.  

Honoria Tuomey    1866-1938
Of Irish descent, Miss Tuomey was born in Sonoma County after her gold prospecting parents settled here to farm.  Miss Tuomey attended Potter School in Bodega and later taught there.  She received her teaching education in Southern California.  When her father died in 1906, she returned home.  She continued teaching at Marshall, Canfield and Potter Schools.  Miss Tuomeys interest in Sonoma County led her to research and publish a new edition of the history of Sonoma County in 1926.

Cornelia Bunni Myers Streckfus   1906-2001
Bunni grew up in Sebastopol and graduated from Analy High School and UC Berkeley.  Bunni kept a lifelong affiliation with her college sorority, joined the Santa Rosa Saturday Afternoon Club, traveled around the world with her husband George and was a very social lady. George and Bunni married in 1939.
George Streckfus  1901-1961
George moved to Sebastopol from San Francisco in 1944.  He became Sebastopols mayor in 1957.  Mr. Streckfus worked for PG&E until becoming co-owner of his father-in-laws Sebastopol business, Art Point Studios.  Art Point produced stationary and engraved invitations for customers around the country.

The evening ends with homemade Apple Crisp dessert, coffee, and tea at the historic Burbank Gold Ridge Farm Cottage.  At the conclusion of dessert, your tour guide will lead you back to the Church parking lot and your car.  
The evening's show is approximately two hours in length.  We advise warm clothing and comfortable shoes and PLEASE BRING A FLASHLIGHT FOR EACH PERSON. As the terrain can be uneven we advise against guests with difficulty walking.

Tickets: $40 for 5:30, 6:15, 7:00 & 7:45pm shows on Friday and Saturday nights.

The purchaser understands that the conditions walking through the Cemetery have inherent risks due to the uneven, unpaved surfaces of the ground.  The purchaser accepts the responsibility for notifying his/her guests of said risks.  All purchasers and guests agree to hold harmless the Western Sonoma County Historical Society and Sebastopol Memorial Lawn from any accident occurring to him/herself.  Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a flashlight for each person.

Tickets are not refundable, but you may give or sell your Will Call tickets to a 3rd party.
