Sara Gazarek with Amy Cervini & Peter Eldridge
Born out of close friendship and incredibly deep admiration, these critically-acclaimed vocalists will come together to curate a very special night of duets, laughter, and musical exploration. As individuals, each artist has crafted their own prolific solo career; Amy Cervini, praised as a thoughtful and broad-minded jazz singer by The New York Times, Peter Eldridge, about whom All About Jazz raved, he is far more than a spinner of songs. His is the true voice of understanding, speaking on its own terms, and Sara Gazarek, who has been hailed by the Los Angeles Times as the next important jazz singer. This show will be packed with harmony, joy, love, and swinging music.

Championed by some of music's most celebrated figures, Sara Gazarek has emerged as a strikingly original artist with limitless potential. With three highly acclaimed CD's under her belt at the young age of 30, Sara has been hailed by the LA Times as "the next important jazz singer," and "impeccable," by the Winnipeg Free Press, Sara continues to seamlessly combine the intimacy of singer/songwriter stylings with the musical and improvisational elements of jazz. Blessed with a gorgeous, translucent voice, excellent pitch, and supple sense of time, Gazarek is steeped in the jazz tradition, but is not afraid to embrace the music that moves her generation. Her newest CD, Blossom & Bee (2012, Palmetto) was released to rave reviews, as Nick Mondello of Jazz Times has noted "'Blossom & Bee' has all the beauty, bite and superb workings of a winner. It's as good or better than some recent Grammy-nominated or winning female vocalist efforts." Sara is currently on faculty at the University of Southern California, leading the award-winning vocal jazz ensemble there and teaching privately.
Cervini is part of a class of vocalists, that sing feelings, not songs. Sure, they learn the lyrics, the melodies, the intentions behind every word, but when it comes down to it, none of that would mean anything if they couldn't connect with the music's receivers on a simple-and-basic emotional level. Cervini manages to tug at the heart strings nearly every time she opens her mouth, and this skill has never been more apparent than it is here. Songs like Neil Young's "After The Gold Rush," Charlie Chaplin's "Smile," Dominique Eade's "Go Gently To The Water," and Dave Frishberg's "Wallflower Lonely, Cornflower Blue" resonate deeply with the soul. She puts her own stamp on every one of them without wandering too far astray from where they usually dwell.
Peter Eldridge ranks in the celebrated tradition of melodic poets, most famously represented by such disparate voices as Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison and Steely Dan singer/songwriters who create catchy, beautiful tunes with insightful lyrics that are both personal and universal (allmusicguide.com). For years Peter Eldridge has remained at the forefront of both the singer-songwriter and jazz realms as a vocalist, pianist, composer, and arranger. Eldridge is also a founding member of internationally acclaimed vocal group, New York Voices. The group continues to tour internationally and has performed in some of the worlds most preeminent venues and festivals. Peter was head of the Manhattan School of Musics jazz voice department for eighteen years and is now part of the voice faculty at Berklee College of Music in Boston. He is regularly in demand for workshops and masterclasses both domestically and internationally, in topics ranging from vocal technique and song interpretation to songwriting and arranging.
