Los Wild Ones

Wild Records is an indie label, based in LA and run by Reb Kennedy aka Mr. Wild Records. Comprised of young Hispanic musicians who write and perform 50s Rock n Roll. The film delivers an honest look at the label's ethos and the unconventional but bonded extended family of Reb, the Irish father figure, and his 'kids'. Reminiscent of the early days of Sun Records and the historical influence that label had on popular music, Wild mirrors that journey and is about to take that step. Interviews with band members, promoters and friends, give an all encompassing view of the journey of the label and the man behind its young artists and their Wild success.

Families come in all shapes and sizes. What are essentially some of the most unusual familial tie are also the strongest. The bond between Reb Kennedy and his artists is unparalleled in the music industry. The loyalty they express to him and his unselfish-to-a-fault business model can be equated to nothing other than pure love. Love for the music and love for one another. Just like every family system, there is a fair amount of dysfunction but they manage to stick together through thick and thin. This family is as special and unique as the label itself, because the man behind it is one of a kind. The label is Reb Kennedy and Reb is Wild's founding father.

Reb does everything and is everything. It's just him. If the label is going to continue to grow and expand as it is, this model (which works right now) will cease to continue to work. Either Reb will have to let go a little bit or his life will become impossibly difficult.

Only time will tell if Reb is able to accept the fact that the label has gone as far as it can go in its current model and only time will tell who he decides to bring on board as his "business partners". Reb is a genius in many ways and has created so much of what the record label is, who the artists are: their style, their voices, their image, but if he can't figure out how to reconcile his limitations with the rate at which the label is growing, Wild may not survive.
