Terra Incognita: Through The Waves by Uplift Physical Theater (Fury Factory 2018)
Founded in 2013, UpLift Physical Theatre is a collaborative of actor-acrobats trained in ensemble-based physical theatre at DellArte International. Pushing the edge of human ability, UpLifts unique style uses the momentum and visceral engagement of our living bodies to create original works that explore the physical truths of gravity, emotion, and endurance.
Weaving a poetic vocabulary of acrobatic movement and storytelling, Terra Incognita: Through The Waves tells the tale of one woman, lost between the uncharted waters of her grief and the shores of her joyful memories following the disappearance of her soul-mate. Developed as artists-in-residence at the San Francisco Circus Center and premiered at DIVAFest in 2016, this intimate, highly-physical play has moved audiences with its gritty and honest portrayal of loss. One of the most exciting theatrical events in San Francisco Bay Area, the FURY Factory is a national hub for ensemble theater work on the West Coast. Staged every other year by foolsFURY theater company, it features: Mainstage productions of fully crafted works by some of the countrys most innovative, exciting theater makers, Raw Materials Polished sections of new works in development, Workshops in creation techniques led by participating artists and other master teachers, as well as panel discussions and more.
Once every two years, we stage an electrifying gathering of collaborative theater makers from around the country. We are thrilled to announce this years line up!
