Theatrobatics: Theater For The Acrobat
In this three day workshop with circus director, Ryan Rykms Madson, film writer and theater director, Vickie Curtis, and probably a few squawks from their six-month old muse, Evalina, we will dive deep and headfirst into the world of theater for the acrobat.

So many of us acrobats train to execute beautiful skills with impeccable technique in a connected series, a routine. And while we may dazzle crowds with our physical prowess, there are a multitude of additional tools that we might use to touch our audience and/or explore the richness of our being and our relationships in this practice.

Enter Theatrobatics: We aim to bring theater practices to the acrobatic realm, opening up new worlds for exploration. We will play with elements like Character, Texture, Pace, Act Structure and Story Arc, Musicality, and Audience Awareness to name a few. Over the course of the weekend, we will work as duos, groups, or even solo, to devise our own acts TO BE PERFORMED! (or not... totally optional... not going to like, stress anyone out...) at the end of our time together.

No theater or performance experience necessary. All acrobatic levels welcome, so long as you can safely practice what you practice with others at your level. We will not spend a lot of time learning traditional acrobatics, but we will probably spend a good amount of time trying to break ourselves away from everything we know so far and who knows, that might mean you pick up a new trick or two in the process. ;)
