Count This Penny with Simon Balto at Mineral Point Opera House July 12th 7:30pm
Count This Penny will be performing with opening act Simon Balto at the Mineral Point Opera House on Thursday, July 12th at 7:30pm. Tickets for this show cost $15 and are all general admission. Doors open at 6:30pm.
Count This Penny is a singer-songwriter duo born in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. They have appeared on Garrison Keillors A Prairie Home Companion and shared the stage with the likes of Melissa Etheridge, Kacey Musgraves, The Head & the Heart, Shovels & Rope, The Lone Bellow, and Sarah Jarosz.
Simon Balto's work has garnered praise from critics both local, regional, national, and international. The Irish music publication Deadly Music! has compared his songwriting to top-of-his-game, Blood on the Tracks-era Dylan. The Chicago-based music curator Music Means Family said the following: An unbelievable talent, his layered folk ballads are reminiscent of Baez and Dylan, Guthrie and Prine. There is a deeply satisfying componentto each of his songs a reminder of home, woodsmoke, and the first traces of your breath as winter begins to settle.
