Poetry Intensive: Working in a Series with Holly Wren Spaulding
Have you ever wanted to take an individual poem or idea and turn it into something more? A sequence or series--maybe even a book-length project? Working in this mode offers a pathway to bigger poems, bigger projects, and the kinds of surprises, detours, and breakthroughs that propel us beyond the known realm of single poems, written one at a time.

In this generative workshop, well consider a variety of inspiring examples of book forms on display at BIMA, and begin at least two series or sequences of our own, using book-forms to inspire our work. Readings will include selections from by Lorine Niedecker, Kimiko Hahn, Jim Moore, Thomas A. Clark, Harryette Mullen, and others.

This intensive workshop is ideal for writers who have been reading and writing poetry for a while, and want to push their work into a more ambitious territory, however, we welcome those with an earnest interest in the creative process, and anyone ready to write a multi-part poem during a day at the museum.
