Austenistan - Book Reading & Author Book Signing - British High Tea and Talk - an AADI event
"Austen with chaat masala"... If you grew up reading Jane Austen in Pakistan and identified with her characters and milieu, you will love Austenistan!
Edited by Laaleen Sukhera, this short story collection reimagines Austen's best-loved, and a few most-despised, characters in Pakistani settings. One of the writers of this short, short story collection is an Austinite - our very own Nida Elley.
At this event, Nida will read excerpts from her story, "Begum Saira Returns". Janine Barchas, one of the world's foremost Jane Austen scholars, and Carol Mackay, Distinguished Professor of English at The University of Texas, will join the conversation.
We invite you to dress for the occasion in lace (a blouse, a lace-trimmed kameez, or a dainty pair of lace gloves) and add some leather - boots, belt, or even a bag!
Special thanks to the South Asia Institute at The University of Texas for their support.
Please Note: Only 25 tickets will be available for sale. Photo Credit: https://www.magzter.com/preview/188/272515#page/2
