Luxury book publisher Assouline is set to release Bulova: A History of Firsts, a hardcover coffee table book that chronicles the American watch company through stunning photography and personal essays. Bulova: A History of Firsts tells the story in a fittingly unusual manner: by recounting an epic, multi-generational picaresque that runs from the Gilded Age up through present-day New York City. Joseph Bulova, the man behind the movement by which America would set its time, was an iconoclastic industrialist who introduced standardized mass production to fine mechanical watchmaking, fostering in turn a corporate culture of innovation that endures today. Less a traditional corporate history than an exactingly curated periodical, this profound new title features eight visually captivating chapters comprising an essay each by luminaries including style journalists David Coggins and Matthew Hranek, music-industry legend Nile Rodgers, advertising writer Stuart Elliott, noted horology authority Jack Forster and more, all edited by luxury historian Aaron Sigmond.

Meeting space in downtown Charleston is at a premium, and The Restoration one of the citys swanky boutique hotels has come up with an innovative idea: Its Exchange Suite can switch between a guest room, a meeting space or a banquet area
"Since our grand opening in February 2016, we were getting several requests for events and meetings," sales director Karen Winn said. "We converted one of our largest suites of 2,300 square feet into event space on the first floor, with two bedrooms on the second floor and a rooftop terrace on the third floor. The room has the old brick walls of the original building from the early 1900s. People are looking for something different for their meetings," Winn said. "You definitely feel like youre in Charleston in this room.
The 54-room hotel at King and Wentworth streets includes a full-service spa, rooftop restaurant and bar, retail store and coffee shop.
