'Love Is...', an elegant evening of love songs & delicious treats, is offered to benefit the New London Maritime Society - Custom House Maritime Museum in New London CT. This onetime cabaret performance by Gary Baillargeon will take place on Saturday, May 5th 2018 at 7:00 PM. An evening of Broadway and contemporary classics featuring song from Irving Berlin, Cy Coleman, Oscar Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Richards Rogers and more. 'Love is' takes a lighthearted look at love and what happens when you find yourself in it!
'It takes a relationship to a point - I don't want to call it a finish,' Gary Baillargeon said in an interview in The Day. 'It sort of parallels, a little bit, my life. I have some stories mixed in that talk about my experiences - good and bad experiences in relationships.' And so it starts with Steppin' Out With My Baby, goes through the likes of Witchcraft, and heads towards its big finish with Glory of Love.
Gary Baillargeon has been performing for over 50 years and has been seen in regional equity theater. In 2010 Gary turned to Cabaret participating at both the Eugene ONeil Cabaret Conference in Waterford CT and the Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp in Steamboat Springs, CO. Under the watchful eye of New York Producer, Director Barry Kleinbort, and with the support and guidance of Accompanist David Gaines Musical Director and Vocal Coach at Juilliard, 'Love Is' was developed. The show has been performed in New York at Dont Tell Mama and locally. A onetime performance will be offered as a benefit for the New London Maritime Society - Custom House Maritime Museum in New London CT and will take place on Saturday, May 5th 2018 at 7:00 PM.
