Pat O'Loughlin Benefit Concert

John OLoughlin and his brother Pat (The Hootenanny Brothers) are Minnesota natives who perform folk songs in the style of the Kingston Trio and the Chad Mitchell Trio. They were planning to perform at Green Valleys Got Talent on March 12 and at a couple of other concerts in Green Valley as well.

However, Pat got word in late February that his rare form of leukemia has flared up again and requires immediate chemotherapy so he can not make the trip from Minneapolis. Pat had chemotherapy about five years ago and his cancer had been in remission until recently. The treatment will require him to cut back on his work for a while. Pat is a talented musician (banjo, concertina, vocals) but he does not make a lot of money when he is healthy and can not afford to be out of work for long. At age 64, Pat is just a bit too young for Medicare.

To give Pat a hand, the musicians of Green Valley are banding together to put on a benefit for him. The benefit is scheduled for 3:00 PM on St. Patricks Day (Saturday, March 17, 2018) at the Community Performance and Arts Center (CPAC, 1250 W. Continental Road) of Green Valley. John OLoughlin will perform some of the songs that he usually plays with Pat, and may throw in a parody or two to keep things lively. Since the benefit will be on St. Patricks Day and John and Pat have authentic Irish DNA, there will of course be a few Irish tunes. On deck for this performance will be many of the finest performers from Green Valleys Got Talent: Hardscrabble Road, Lawrence Severt, the 1895 Family Band, the Green Valley Saxophone Quartet, and the Posada Life
Readers Theater.

Since the performers and the CPAC are donating their services, all of the proceeds will go to help Pat get through this difficult time.
