Inside the Central Park Conservancy: Revitalizing the World's Most Famous Urban Park
Join Friends of Stewart Park on Thursday, March 1st, 2018 from 7pm to 8:30pm at Cinemapolis for an exciting, behind-the-scenes look inside the Central Park Conservancy and its tremendous revitalization efforts in Central Park, the world's most famous urban park.

The Central Park Conservancy's Christopher Nolan and Bob Rumsey, both Cornell University Landscape Architecture graduates, will lead the presentation and focus on Central Park's history, as well as the history of the Conservancy and its work to revitalize and maintain what is considered the masterwork of the park's designer, renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted.

Mr. Nolan joined the Conservancy in 1996 as the park's Chief Landscaper and was named Chief Operating Officer of the Conservancy in 2016. In this dual role, he leads the restoration and management work that is central to the Conservancy's mission as the organization responsible for the stewardship of Central Park.  He serves on the Cornell Botanic Garden Advisory Board.

Bob Rumsey, a landscape architect with nearly 30 years professional experience, joined the Conservancy as Studio Director in 2013 where he is responsible for directing the Conservancy's in-house team of landscape architects in the development of project designs for the restoration and reconstruction of the park. Prior to joining the Conservancy, Mr. Rumsey was a founding partner at R/F Landscape Architecture P.C. in NYC where his focus was on high-end residential design.

Central Park's 843-acres of public green space are the heart of New York City, drawing millions of residents and visitors every year. The Central Park Conservancy is a private, not-for- profit organization founded in 1980 to restore the Park in partnership with the City of New York. To date, the Conservancy's in-house planning, design, and construction office has planned and executed more than $315 million in restoration and reconstruction projects. In addition to continued restoration work, the Conservancy operates and maintains the Park under an agreement with the City of New York and provides 75% of its annual operating budget.

This event will benefit Friends of Stewart Park (FSP), a local nonprofit committed to enhance, improve and revitalize Ithaca's historic Stewart Park, the city's main lakefront park. Established in 2011, FSP, in partnership with the City of Ithaca, has completed numerous small-scale revitalization projects to date, with many larger-scale projects in the works to be completed by the park's centennial in 2021.

Tickets for the event are available online at www.friendsofstewartpark.org and may also be purchased at the door. There is a $10 to $50 sliding scale for tickets with a $20 suggested donation. All proceeds benefit Stewart Park revitalization through Friends of Stewart Park.
