About
Sam (Alan Cummings) is suffering with survivors guilt. Still mourning the loss of his partner to AIDS over 20 years ago, along with the trauma of living through the pandemics worse period, he curmudgeonly is trying to channel his thoughts and emotions through art, specifically an experimental video project about his late friend that cant seem to go anywhere. Stuck in an endless cycle, he is dismayed by the younger generation of uninhibited gay men, that is until me meets Braeden (Zachary Booth, Keep the Lights On) at a bar late one night. As the two of them become closer, an intergenerational relationship forms  one that brings up many questions and insecurities but one that is capable of healing as well.

Debut feature filmmaker and co-writer, Vincent Gagliostro, a longtime activist and founding member of ACT UP, has said that he began making this film at the moment in which I found myself politically at odds with the gay communityand the film begins to bridge that gap between where we were and where we are now. Through soulful and grounded performances by both Cummings and Booth, After Louie is a powerful drama that keenly captures two generations that must communicate and share in order to heal.

the films passion, insights and feeling frequently hit home   Sarah Ward, Screen Daily

After Louie tells a moving and thought-provoking self-contained story, while admirably claiming a space for the underrepresented  both living and dead.  Rachel Brook, One Room With a View
