Writers Present: Brad Meltzer and "The Escape Artist" on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 7:00 p.m. in Mission Viejo
For the 20th anniversary of #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Meltzer's first book after two decades of entertaining America with a dozen thrillers, a hugely successful children's book series, TV shows, comic books, and even finding the missing 9/11 flag that firefighters raised at Ground Zero, he will be speaking on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in Mission Viejo. Brad decided to celebrate by going back to the start. The thing that launched his career: a tightly-woven, fast-paced thriller, packed with little-known American history and unforgettable characters. The Escape Artist is the first book in an entirely new series by one of our most beloved thriller writers, and it reminds us why we became fans of Brad Meltzer in the first place.

About The Escape Artist: Nola Brown is supposed to be dead. She was on a plane that mysteriously fell from the sky as it left a secret military base in the Alaskan wilderness. Her commanding officer verifies she's dead and the government confirms it. But Jim "Zig" Zigarowski has just found out the truth: Nola is still alive. And shes on the run. Zig works at Dover Air Force Base, helping put to rest the bodies of those who die on top-secret missions. Nola was a childhood friend of Zig's daughter and once saved his daughter's life. So when Zig realizes Nola is still alive, he's determined to find her. But as Zig digs into her past, he learns that trouble follows Nola everywhere she goes. On her last mission, Nola saw something nobody was supposed to see, earning her an enemy unlike any other, who will do whatever it takes to keep her quiet. Together, Nola and Zig will either reveal a sleight of hand being played at the highest levels of power or die trying to uncover the U.S. Army's most mysterious secreta centuries-old conspiracy that traces back to the greatest escape artist in history: Harry Houdini.
Seating is limited. Free seats are available on a space-available basis only. We recommend purchasing a book through Brownpapertickets.com to be guaranteed a seat. Patrons must remain seated during the presentation.
