Événement

Hán Xiè and Allison Nyquist
Due to the generosity of an anonymous donor, this concert is free to the public. Free-will donations will be accepted at the concert.

IEM's 2018 Spring Concert will pair Hán Xiè, a recent 1st violin appointment for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, with Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra concert master Allison Nyquist in a program featuring works for two baroque violins. Other artists from Indy Baroque will collaborate.

Allison Nyquist is Artistic Director of Nashville's Music City Baroque orchestra and the baroque violin professor at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music.  She also serves as concertmaster of the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and is a member of Ensemble Voltaire, The Vivaldi Project (with whom she recently recorded "Discovering the Classical String Trio" for MSR Classics), the Haymarket Opera Company and Third Coast Baroque.  She is a former student of Stanley Ritchie at Indiana University..

Born in China, Hán Xiè began playing violin at the age of six. After three years of junior high school studies at the Wuhan Conservatory of Music Middle School, Han was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School in Beijing. In 2008, he joined the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and toured China with the orchestra. In 2015, Han received his Bachelor of Music degree and Performers Certificate from the Eastman School of Music.

Two years later, He received his Master of Music Degree in Violin Performance at the Peabody Conservatory. While he was a student at Peabody, he was invited to substitute for a concert in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. His mentors include Professor Wang Zhen Shan, Oleh Krysa, Victor Danchenko and Herbert Greenberg. His chamber music groups have been mentored by the Ying Quartet, Juilliard Quartet, Chiara Quartet, Takacs Quartet, Samuel Rhodes, Norman Fischer and Michael Kannen. He has participated in masterclasses by Midori Goto and Joel Smirnoff. Han has participated the Summit Music Festival in 2016 and the Tanglewood Music Center as a violin fellow in 2017.

In 2017, Hán was also awarded the Master of Music Degree in baroque violin at Peabody. He was concert master and concerto soloist in the conservatorys baroque orchestra, the Baltimore Baroque Band, directed by John Moran and Risa Browder.
