Live at Studio5: DON STIERNBERG QUARTET

World-renowned master of the jazz mandolin, Don Stiernberg, returns to Studio5 with an all-star group of Chicago musicians. There's not much I can say about Don that I haven't already said. I admit I am biased he's my oldest, dearest pal, and the reason I moved to Chicago (we had a band together in college and I followed Don here after we graduated). After a friendship that spans more decades than either of us cares to count, Don's music still gives me great joy. And Im not the only one who loves to hear Don play. The last time Dons quartet performed at Studio5 a woman grabbed my arm on her way out the door and said, When will they be back? I just love them! Well, maam, mark it on your calendar. Don will once again be joined by three other extraordinary musicians: Guitarist Neal Alger, bassist Jim Cox, and drummer Phil Gratteau round out the group. These guys are all superb, world-class musicians and we are fortunate that they all call Chicago home. By the way, theyve also been friends for many years, and they enjoy making each other laugh so the evening is bound to be both fun AND funny. Im really looking forward to this.
