PAT GUBLER, aka P.G. Six, came on the scene in 1994, as a member of Memphis Luxure, a noise/rock band from Port Chester, NY. That band morphed into Tower Recordings, a musically omnivorous ensemble that released several albums on the Siltbreeze and Communion labels over the past decade.
Pat's first solo album, "Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites," saw the light of day in 2001, followed by "The Well of Memory" in 2004. "Music From the Sherman Box Series, a collection of instrumentals, arrived in 2006. Pat's music fuses an unlikely range of influences, including 60's British folk, country rock, and experimental music. Pat has shared the stage with a variety of performers, including Ghost, Slint, Yo la tengo, Michael Hurley, and The Incredible String Band. His fourth album, "Slightly Sorry," was released in 2007.
Along with his identity as P.G. Six, Pat is also a founding member of Tower Recordings. Tower Recordings took its name from a loft space in Port Chester, New York called "Tower Gallery," where Helen Rush and Matt Valentine were living in the early 90's. Pat was soon living there too, and it was in this loft space that the core of the Tower Recordings collective began putting songs and improvisational sessions to tape.
Prior to his involvement with Tower Recordings, Pat studied music at SUNY Purchase. While at SUNY Purchase he met Matt Valentine and Marc Wolf ,who formed the Captain Beefheart and Pussy Galore-inspired Memphis Luxure. Memphis Luxure performed live shows around the Northeast with like-minded noise outfits like Bunnybrains. In 1995, Pat released "Book of Rayguns," P.G. Six's formal debut. This recording is a Branca-esque piece of concert music for the electric guitar performed with Tom Keller and P.G. Six.
Pat has also played with one of his musical heroes, Robin Williamson of the Incredible String Band. The influence of Williamson is clear throughout "Parlor Tricks and Porch Favorites," especially on the Pentangle-inspired "When I Was A Young Man," with its echoes of Irish and Scottish folk music. P.G. Six shares a strong connection to folk instrumental virtuosos like Sandy Bull and John Fahey. The bluesy sound of the American Christian backwoods is evident in his music as well.
In his various musical incarnations, Pat has shared the stage with the aforementioned Robin Williamson, To Live and Shave in L.A., Alan Licht, Tony Conrad, Tono Bungay, Bert Jansch, the Shadow Ring, and many others. His live shows reflect Pat's musical inclinations, combining the traditional with the avant garde.
ALLYSEN CALLERY is a globetrotting folkie who has played concerts in Germany and Switzerland, as well as up and down the East Coast. This alternative folk artist from Rhode Island has an intricate and unique finger style, and a voice that has been called mesmerizing and angelic. Growing up in New England, Allysen was heavily influenced by her parents' British Isles Folk Revival records of the late 60s and early 70s. Her most recent CD, "Mumblin' Sue," will have its official release at the June 15, 2013 Sandywoods concert.
Her first two albums, Hopey (2007) & Hobgoblin's Hat (2010), were self-released, but reached an international audience, thanks to radio stations such as Folk Radio UK, Sideways Through Sound (Australia), and favorable reviews from Terrascope. In 2011 her EP Winter Island was released by Woodland Recordings (Berlin), with Allysen touring Germany and Switzerland in support of its release.
She has been called "the Tim Burton of folk music," and her quiet and dark style has made her a favorite of artists and critics alike, including Marissa Nadler who listed Winter Island in her Best Albums of 2011. ""Winter Island is a record that could proudly sit tall next to Sibylle Baier's Colour Green and Leonard Cohen's Songs From A Room. It's impossibly delicate, gorgeously written, and emanates a timeless quality."
In 2012 Allysen's second EP "The Summer Place" was released by Berlin-based indie label Woodland Recordings, with Allysen again returning to Germany and Switzerland. Allysen tours from Maine to NYC, and has played such rooms as Club Passim, The Knitting Factory, The Blackstone River Theatre, The Oak & The Ax, Stone Soup, AS220, Local 121, The Narrows Center for the Arts, The Red Room, Common Fence Music, and Sandywoods Center for the Arts. In 2012 Allysen was named Best Acoustic/Singer-Songwriter Act in the Providence Phoenix Best Music Poll.
Allysen lives in the small seaside town of Bristol, Rhode Island, with her husband, daughter, and many cats.
ORION RIGEL DOMMISSE creates the kind of stirring folk tunes that creep up on you and then get stuck in your mind. Her beautiful yet haunting songs tell stories of heartbreak, weakened bodies, and princesses with castles.
This Providence-based singer/songwriter utilizes her talents on piano, synthesizer, cello, and harmonium to craft spare, mysterious folk songs. Orion, a native of Virginia, released her debut album, "What I Want From You Is Sweet," on the Language of Stone label in 2007. Her sophomore album "Chickens" followed in 2012.
