CityDance 2018 Summer Intensive Auditions
Spend a dynamic summer studying with directors and faculty from Dance Theatre of Harlem alongside CityDance's artists and choreographers.
DTH at CityDance is ideal for students interested in a challenging exploration of ballet and the allied arts with daily classes in ballet, pointe, pas de deux, modern, contemporary, jazz, and African. Other activities may include, master classes with guest artists and CityDance faculty, world dance, choreography work workshops, and participation in a culminating performance.
All students have a full classical and contemporary technique class each day as well as repertory rehearsals in both genres. Classical rep includes both variations for senior students, as well as group pieces. Original contemporary works will be created on the dancers by the contemporary faculty.
Additional classes in partnering, pointe/pre-pointe, floor barre and variations are scheduled on a rotating basis each day. Students are able to participate in workshops exploring the creative process of the company's artistic director including an improvisation/composition class using task based exercised to manipulate phrases of movement in unique ways. Dancers will present their classical and contemporary repertory, as well as work from their creative workshops, in the performances on the last day of the intensives.
Dancers will also be evaluated for CityDance's other Summer Intensives in partnership with Koresh Dance Company, ICONS and other world renowned Artists and Companies.
Our signature structure of 1 - 2 week intensives with each professional company or artist, allows young dancers to tailor their summer training to participate in one or all of these summer experiences.
Led by Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler, CityDance prepares young dancers for 21st century careers with specialized training, rich performance opportunities, and strong connections to the professional dance world.
We do allow for walk-ups, however online registration is encouraged and will make the audition process more seamless.

DRESS CODE
Please bring a headshot and a full body shot. These do not need to be professionally-done photos. Photos taken on phones are more than welcome!
Female: leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet shoes with elastic straps, black dance shorts/leggings and bare feet for contemporary
Male: fitted black or white t-shirt or tank, men's tights, black or white ballet shoes
