Exploring Japanese Rope Bondage: Gote Shibari Variations
The gote shibari / takatekote shibari is the most iconic tie of Japanese-style rope bondage. It's beautiful, intricate, and highly versatile and can be constructed in a number of different beautiful & functional ways. Come explore it with us! In this three-hour workshop, we'll learn & refine several different forms for creating this bondage tie, focusing on:
-precise rope positioning -proper rope tension -hojo cuffs -many different types of frictions -third rope options -hand tying variations
We'll also examine anatomy & safety issues associated with this tie, and learn tips & tricks for tying fluidly & with connection. Finally, we'll take a look at some of the possibilities around 'using up' the remaining rope in decorative ways (kazari).
Class Prerequisites: Students should be familiar with basic rope bondage techniques, especially the single column tie and a basic 2-rope TK/Gote Shibari.
This workshop is appropriate for all genders, sexual orientations, and body types. Please bring: (3-4) 8 meter to 30 ropes, 5-6mm in diameter. Hemp or Jute is recommended. Its also helpful to have some shorter lengths of rope in your kit. Short on rope? Well have a bit extra on hand to loan out to students.
To ensure personal attention to each participant, class size will be limited to 16 people. Due to the small class size, early registration is highly recommended.
