Afterschool Enrichment: Winter Session
*Registration opens Monday, December 11 @ 8pm*
ABOUT THE CLASSES
Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during the weeks of
January 9th through February 13th 2018.
Soapmaking with Miss Kelly
All natural soap making with Miss Kelly! Students will learn about the different kinds of soap bases (clear, white, aloe vera, coco butter, and Shea butter). We will learn about adding additives like oats, lavender buds, and coffee grinds to make a scrub soap. We will make soaps for the different seasons!
Who: Grades 3-6 When: Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $80 per child, 10 student limit
Dates: January 9, 16, 23, 30; February 6 & 13.
Codebots Junior with Montclair Learning Center
You are the engineer! Half of the sessions will focus on coding: students will be introduced to programming concepts that will allow them to code their own animation, music or video game. The second half of the sessions will focus on robotics: students will be introduced to engineering concepts by building and programming robots, using motors and sensors with the LEGO® Education WeDo™ Robotics Construction Set.
Who: Grades K-2 When: Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $70 per child.
Dates: January 9, 16, 23, 30; February 6 & 13.
Ukes & Cukes with Ms. H
Join Ms. Hawrylko and her ukulele in an after school class where you learn about, help prepare, and enjoy healthy plant-based snacks with songs throughout the class. Your child will be learning and singing along to traditional children songs and nursery rhymes in between preparing and enjoying their snack of the week.

Beadmaking Class
Love jewelry making? Then you will love making your own beads! Make beads, charms, and pendants out of clay, wood, and other materials. Once they dry we will turn them into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings!
Who: Grades 3-6 When: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $70 per child
Dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7 & 14.
Brookdale on Broadway Varsity
Director/Choreographer, Elisa VanDuyne, and Assistant Director Noel Gatts (a parent and professional Musical Theatre Actress) will lead students in physical/vocal warmups, theatre/improv games, and audition and performance technique. Students will be learning and performing in the Opening and Closing numbers of the showcase. Varsity students are encouraged to prepare solo or small group pieces on their own time.
Who: Grades 3-6 When: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $130 per child

Intro to Art
Students will be introduced to various art techniques including watercolor, acrylic paints, colored pencil and pastel. A different project will be completed each week.
Who: Grades K-2 When: Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $70 per child.
Dates: January 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7 & 14.
Winter Draw & Write with Mrs. Diorio
Draw a themed picture each week and respond to a writing prompt that goes along with it. Students will keep all drawings and writings in school to make a portfolio that will be sent home at the end of the 6 weeks.
Who: Grades K-2 When: Thursdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $70 per child
Dates: January 11, 18, 25; February 1, 8, 15.
Codebots Senior with Montclair Learning Center
You are the engineer! Half of the sessions will focus on coding: students will learn how to code their own animation, music or video game. The second half of the sessions: students will build their own remote control car, animal bot or electric guitar using the LEGO® Mindstorms® NXT Robotics Construction Set. The students will program their robots using motors and sensors in order to meet challenges such as following lines, processing sounds or navigating a maze.

Dates: January 11, 18, 25; February 1, 8, 15.
Brookdale on Broadway Junior Varsity
Director/Choreographer, Elisa VanDuyne, and Assistant Directors, Noel Gatts and Wendi Rickman (a parent, actress and SiriusXM Radio Host) will lead the kids in physical/vocal warmups, theatre games, storytelling and improvisational workshops. The younger kids will prepare a short group musical number, and be incorporated into the Opening and Closing numbers! JV students are encouraged to prepare solo or small group numbers on their own time.
Who: Grades K-2 When: Thursdays, 3:30-4:30pm Cost: $130 per child
