Ash Can Van Gogh w/ Darin Francis
Ash Can Van Gogh performed primarily in the Detroit area from 1985-1989. The band received multiple music awards from the then Metro Times Music Awards which is today's Detroit Music Awards. Accolades included Band Deserving Wider Recognition, Best Folk Band, Best Instrumentalist, Best Acoustic Artist...which goes to show the difficulty in pinning down the musical style of this band. They weren't folk, they weren't hard rock but somewhere in between.
In their third decade, Ash Can Van Gogh blends folk rock, psychedelic rock, Americana, country and blues. Their intertwining guitar work and soaring three part harmonies is the hallmark of their collective style. Americana, Roots, Folk Rock, Prog Folk...all apply.
Darin Francis was part of the Detroit-based band Harbinger's Mile in the 1990's. Their CD, "Hallowed Boulevard," was a favorite among local music fans. He has recently begun writing songs again and he looks forward to sharing those songs with the Trinity House audience.
