Focal Point Friends of Old-time Music Presents: Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains
The husband and wife duo of Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains are skilled multi-instrumentalists, and have gained a well-earned reputation for their distinct twin fiddling and close-knit harmony singing. Tricia Spencer is a Kansas fiddler who grew up learning the tradition of old-time fiddling from her grandparents and the likes of Pete McMahan, Cyril Stinnett, Lymon Enloe, Dwight Lamb, Amos Chase, and Lucy Pierce. Howard Rains plays rare, old-style Texas fiddle tunes that he learned from friends, family, mentors, and rare old recordings. Spencer & Rains have performed and taught their unique style of music nationally and internationally, playing old time fiddle tunes and singing old songs in the style of their home states while also exploring other traditional American regional styles.
