The Shake the Hand that Feeds You dinner is one of the most highly anticipated events for food lovers in Ohio. This joyful evening of celebrating food tradition never fails to amaze. Dinner guests gather together in a spirit of conviviality to celebrate food diversity and experience the reality of good, clean and fair food.
On Saturday, September 30th, from 6-10pm, we will return to the Columbus Produce Terminal. The Terminal is a local food hub and the distribution center for Great River Organics, also known as GRO, a farmer-owned cooperative comprising growers committed to expanding the footprint of local, certified organic products in the Ohio marketplace.
In addition to drawing from multiple farmers who will provide fresh, great-tasting, responsibly and organically grown produce, we will draw upon the talents of Columbus area chefs and producers. As the event draws near, we will update this page with menu details and the chefs' specific offerings. Please note that each course will be served family-style. While the dinner is vegetarian-friendly, we are unable to accommodate other dietary restrictions.
What you can expect so far: Begin with a signature cocktail in-hand prepared by mixologist Nicolene Schwartz as you dine on pre-dinner appetizers by Paulie Gee's coming fresh from their new mobile pizza oven, and take a walk through (and contribute to) our silent auction. But don't eat too much! Dinner will surely be a memorable feast prepared by chefs Dara Schwartz, Matt Heaggans, Catie Randazzo, and Tony Layne. And there's more: Snowville-churned butter, breads by Dan the Baker, grains from Shagbark Seed & Mill, cheeses from Black Radish Creamery, pastured-raised eggs from Copia Farm, and meats from The Butcher & Grocer! And as we announce the winners of our silent auction, enjoy dessert crafted by previous Terra Madre delegate Jeni Britton Bauer.
From farm to hub to table... We hope you will join us!
***Please note: Ticket sales will remain open until 9am on Saturday, September 30th, or until all tickets have been sold (whichever comes first). If you find we have run out of available tickets but would like to be placed on a waiting list, please contact markanthony@slowfoodcolumbus.org.***
