Spook Handy performed alongside Pete Seeger at festivals and concerts more than 50 times from 2003 2013. He learned firsthand many of Petes songs and the stories behind them. Even more, he learned who Pete Seeger was and what he stood for. To help keep alive Petes tradition of using songs to build and nurture community, Spook has embarked on Remembering Pete Seeger World Tour to bring Petes songs, stories and message to all 50 U.S states, all 10 Canadian provinces, and many other countries.

Spooks songs have been used in theater and film and he is becoming a well-known speaker and workshop facilitator at festivals and conferences around the country. His 5th full-length album, Pete Woody & Me, Volume I Keep the Flame Alive, released in 2016, charted No. 3 on the International Folk Radio Charts, with individual songs reaching as high as No. 2. More than just a tribute to Pete, it is a work that, as John Weingart of WPRB Radio says, certainly rests on the shoulders of the past but is unmistakably steeped in the present.
