Three bands debuting at the Lizard and bringing a ton of funk and rock'n'roll

John E Funk & The Skunks are a four-piece funk rock band currently spreading their stanky jams throughout Boston, MA. John E Funk (guitar, vocals), Jameson Walsh (bass), and Mike Azar (drums) first got together as students at the University of Hartford, and soon after moving to Boston post-grad, they found Gabe Rothman (trombone) in the most heavenly Cragislist match of all time. Their sound draws from diverse influences, including The Arctic Monkeys, Silversun Pickups, James Brown, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers, creating an irresistible combination of high-energy, groovy rock n roll. The groups fiery attitude shines most in live performances, and the boys perform regularly in New England bars and clubs, including an opening slot for Reel Big Fish and Bad Rabbits in Hartford, CT and a packed headlining performance at the Boston Hard Rock Café.

Wildcat Slim formed out of singer/rhythm guitarist Matt Bailin's unwillingness to sit around any longer *wishing* he were in a rock n roll band. One cold New England winter's night in 2015, he took matters into his own hands and surrounded himself with the three rowdiest and most talented rock n rollers that he knew, taught them several of his tunes, and set out on their long road to greatness.  Since then, Wildcat Slim has focused on delivering high-energy and crowd pleasing performances of original music, mixed in with cover songs by their favorite artists (The Black Keys, Wilco, The Beatles, to name a few). Their self-produced first album was recorded just one year after the band's formation and was independently released in July 2016. The eponymous album contains seven original songs and a reimagination of the old New Orleans classic "St James Infirmary."

Sons Lunaris (SUNS loo-NAHR-iss) are a rock band formed in Lowell, Massachusetts in 2016. The group consists of Sean Kenahan (drums), Justin Martin (lead guitar), and Alex Simpson (lead vocals, bass). Their style, rooted in blues-based hard rock, incorporates elements of psychedelic, metal, funk, alternative-rock, and folk music.
Sons Lunaris is currently playing around the New England area and planning a tour of the East Coast for early 2018.
