Creative Songwriting Workshop with Sally Barris and Rebecca Folsom

Get inspired and unstuck in this fun, creative workshop all about songwriting. Participants can expect to learn new tools and skills such as: how to keep your song honest while still being accessible to a listening audience; the importance of structure; what goes in a chorus; what belongs in the verse; and how to write a strong hook. Youll also learn the importance of writing a good melody and new ways to come up with different rhythms.

Sally Barris is an A-list Nashville songwriter who has had songs covered by such top-level artists as Kathy Mattea, Martina McBride, and Lee Ann Womack. Her song Let The Wind Chase You, recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Keith Urban, received a Grammy nomination for vocal collaboration in 2009. Sally has taught at The Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina, hosted workshops at The Berkeley School of Music, The Wildflower Festival in Dallas and more.

A true Renaissance woman, Rebecca Folsom is a painter, a published poet, a touring musician, and a national award winning songwriter. Rebecca has been a touring musician for over 15 years, playing such venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater in CO, The Bluebird and Opryland in Nashville, TN, Falcon Ridge Festival, NY, Kerrville Folks Festival, TX. Her song Better Times went to #1 on the National Roots/Americana radio charts, and her Album Extraordinary Days went top 40 for the year 2016.
