On September 16th Moody Little Sister celebrates 7 years of music made in Portland. This event is both a celebration and a farewell and will be Moody Little Sisters last performance, as Portlanders, before starting a new chapter in small town New Mexico.

The night will feature a journey through the songs written by Moody Little Sister (Naomi Sparrow and Rob Stroup).  Featured Guest Musicians (Skybound Blue, Debra Arlyn, Ara Lee, and more) will perform their own renditions of the band's catalogue of music, giving the audience a full night of Moody Little Sister Music.

Touring through Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and the Southwest over the past 7 years, their music contains an expansive landscape, a New Folk of the American West that captures in a bottle the dust storms and tsunamis of the heart. This is the same ground theyve covered time and again in their van as well (along with a big fluffy dog named Triton), making a near-constant life on the road between Anchorage and Albuquerque, some years touring nearly 100 shows a year.

Changes that Portland's popularity has brought to the city has made it nearly impossible to continue to afford living in the city that they both love.  The decision to move out of state was not made easily.

Some bands make big gestures. Moody Little Sister, in their music and in the kinship they share with their listeners, has been meeting our 21-Century Emergency with an urgent intimacy. Rob Stroup and Naomi Sparrow met 7 years ago when Naomi moved to Portland Oregon from Alaska, in search of a city where she could be a full time artist, and in search of a record producer to make her first solo record It was a Great October.  The two met making Sparrow's record and started writing music together and performing together.  Moody Little Sister is the joining of their music and their lives.  They released their debut record Wild Places to a sold out crowd at the Old Church three years ago and the rest that they say is history.

Though their writing has been described as masterly (Oregon Music News) and earthy and approachable (Bitch), these are not songs charging towards the mainstream; this is not a band spraying buckshot for new fans.  Moody Little Sister has built a loyal community around their music the old-old-old fashioned way: one listening room, house concert, front porch, and campfire at a time. The couple even got married at their own outdoor concert last summer with their fans in attendance. Moody Little Sister has toured the living rooms and back yards of fans everywhere in the form of House Concerts, as well as taken the large stages of the Pacific Northwest such as : The Sisters Folk Festival, The Wildwood Festival, The Britt Festival, The Bite of Seattle, and Opening for the Indigo Girls to name a few.
Moody Little Sister hopes to continue building community around music in the Southwest and eventually having their Annual Outdoor Camping Concert in both the Southwest and the Northwest.
