ShawnMikael(s) in CoHi: SUCK IT, MAYANS!

ShawnMikael(s) returns to Studio 1469 this month for what will be our last show at this space in 2012, and what may our last show ever if the Mayans are prescient as some people (read: "certifiable weirdos") think they are.

Assuming our world hasn't been rendered a smoking-hot cinder as we hurtle toward the hellish heat of the sun, we'll be joined this month by some smokin' hot (heh-heh) improv and stand-up talent you won't want to miss because why shouldn't some of the last breaths you take be put toward gales of laughter?

First, joining us from Frederick, MD's hallowed Maryland Ensemble Theater is Laugh Station. They're damned funny, otherwise they wouldn't get away with calling themselves "Laugh Station." Trust us, you'll love 'em. Laugh Station is Jack Colliver, Joe Colliver, Matt Lee & Colin Shultzaberger.

Second, those youthful, highly energetic, supremely intelligent kids from So Political will blow your face off with their "we're-so-young-and-talented-and-have-got-our-whole-lives-in-front-of-us" improv stylings. Damned kids. So Political is Conler Mandt, Reaves McElveen, and Paul Laudiero.

Finally, ShawnMikael(s) takes the stage, first yelling at those kids to keep their damned Frisbees off our lawn, and then cajoling veteran DC improvising genius Joe Uchno to join us as we help 2012 join in lockstep with the inexorable march of time as it passes us by. Provided, of course, we're all still here.

Our Host? We're honored to have one of the funniest people on the Eastern seaboard hosting our show once again the irrepressible, and known Mayan hater, Doug Powell.

Show up. Bring your own booze (provided you're 21 or Mayan). It'll be our farewell to 2012 at Studio 1469, a place we're damned glad to call home.

RUMOR, UNSUBSTANTIATED: ShawnMikael(s) merchandise (read: "cool logo-emblazoned t-shirts") might be on sale. So bring some extra Ded Prezzies for that, m'kay?

The Space: Studio 1469 (http://studio1469.com/), located in the rear of 1469 Harvard Street, is not your normal performance space: one part artist's hideaway, one part "white-box" theater, it's a hidden gem in bustling Columbia Heights. Please note that access isn't available on Harvard Street, but by entering via the alley off 15th Street between Harvard Street and Columbia Road.
