Plant ID and Foraging Workshop (JUNE)

Come join us at Discovery Park for an intensive class on plant identification, wildcrafting and herbal medicine.

We will touch, peel bark, smell and observe everything we come across during a walk around the park. Be ready to take pictures, notes and look closely at the leaf structures of the plants well be learning. Discovery Park has a wonderful diversity of forest, field and coastal plants, including English hawthorn, indian plum, red alder, cleavers, Oregon grape, Douglas fir, trailing blackberry, horsetail, salmon berry, nettle, rose, wild carrot, pacific madrone, yarrow, St. John's wort, and more.

We will also cover all the information you need to know to go out and harvest plants safely, and the medicine and food uses of the plants we encounter.

This class is open to all knowledge levels

The class is offered by The Adiantum School of Plant Medicine, taught by local herbalist Natalie Hammerquist. In addition to being a clinical western herbalist, Natalie is also very knowledgeable about identifying local plants. She has been harvesting plants in the area for food and medicine for 8 years.
