Intuitive Tarot Series

You can read many excellent books on the tarot and learn systems of understanding their universal language, but nothing can replace your personal relationship to the cards.
This series will cover a general overview of the elemental suits of the tarot, the major arcana, and tarot spreads as well as the basic magical skills of purification, grounding, casting a circle, and calling the elements to enrich and ground your tarot practice. Learning the cards is a study that could take a lifetime and in these short workshops you will learn key words and overarching themes to help you begin to build your personal relationship with the cards. Although we won't be covering all of the individual cards and their in depth meanings you will get to learn and practice intuitive ways of approaching the deck.

No experience with the tarot is required. We will be working with the Rider-Waite-Smith deck.

6/9 6:30-8:30pm Class 1: the elemental suits: their lessons and courts
In this class we will cover meanings and associations of the four suits (swords, wands, pentacles, and cups), the lessons of the number cards (ace through ten), and key words for understanding the court cards (pages, knights, queens, and kings).

6/16 6:30-8:30pm Class 2: the major arcana
The major arcana are the big shakers and movers of the tarot. They hold a different significance than the suits as they are archetypal images that hold deep meaning and vast influence over our lives. I think of the major arcana as the weather--large energies out of our control that influence us greatly. In this class we will explore key words for each major arcana card and use numerology to find the major arcana card is your personal soul and life card.

6/23 6:30-8:30pm Class 3: laying the cards
In this class we will learn simple layouts, basic magical skills to create a container for our work, and practice reading the cards for each other. To take this class, you must attend at least one of the prior classes.

Iris Misciagna has been reading the tarot for 15 years. She is a graduate of the Blue Iris Mystery School and continues to work in the school as a student teacher. She is a tarot reader, teacher, priestess, and painter and has been studying the craft for more than ten years.
