Young Artists in Concert

A wonderful evening highlighting young artists from our own community. Several local performers will be featured including Pianist, Kevin Xu a ninth grader at Green Hope High School in Cary, North Carolina. Since coming under the tutelage of Florence Ko at age eight, Kevin has gained tremendous strides in his performance skills. After being named the Peter Perret Youth Talent Search Concerto Winner in 2012, Kevin made his solo debut with the Winston Salem Symphony. In the past four years, he won first-prize awards in various competitions, including the NC Federation of Music Royalty Competition, the F.T. Nakari Competition and Lyric Style Best Performance. In both 2014 and 2015 Kevin was the MTNA state winner for North Carolina and in 2015 was the alternative winner in Southwest Region. Last summer, he was also accepted into the Philadelphia Young Pianists Academy piano camp sponsored by the Curtis Institute of Music. When not practicing piano, Kevin enjoys other more "mundane" activities such as getting straight A's at school and playing video games.
