"The Orange Story" is a short film that tells the story of an elderly Japanese American man who must sell all his belongings and report to a temporary detention center during World War II from where he will be forcibly removed to an undisclosed location. The film uses archival radio, film and photographic sources to complement this narrative, providing a strong historical context for the story.

In the wake of the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the U.S. declaration of war upon Japan, a young attorney, MINORU YASUI, put himself on the line. Son of immigrant farmers, he was the first Japanese American to pass the Oregon state bar. In spite of great public hostility and discriminatory government policies, he challenged the exclusion and forced removal of over 120,000 persons of Japanese ancestry from their homes on the West Coast and their imprisonment in concentration camps. Minoru Yasuis lifelong fight for justice has left an ongoing legacy, to be ever-vigilant in the defense of the human and civil rights of all people, regardless of race, religion or national origin.
