Psalms, Songs, and Sonnets: Feel the Groove--from Baroque to Jazz
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE: Want to experience the energy and passion of baroque and jazz music together? With marvelous melodies built around texts from sacred and secular literature, Dr. Bach and Singers in Accord will take you on a choral journey to feel the groove. Delight in the harmonic, rhythmic, and improvisational drive shared by these two musical genres that originated more than 200 years apart.

ABOUT THE GUEST CONDUCTOR LARRY BACH: Larry Bach, in his thirtieth year at North Central University, currently serves as the Artistic Director for the University. Bach received his Vocal Performance Degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, and a M.M. in Conducting from the University of Minnesota. Bach is also a doctoral candidate (abd) in Conducting at the University of Iowa. He also studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Bach has had a 20 year association with the Dale Warland Singers, a Minneapolis based professional choir, which has been acclaimed both nationally and internationally. Bach has also sung under the prominent conductors Helmuth Rillig, Eric Erickson, and Robert Shaw. Bach has traveled extensively throughout the United States as a clinician and guest conductor for churches, schools, and professional organizations. During the 2004-2005 season, Bach was named the All State Choir Director for Minnesota from the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA).


ABOUT SINGERS IN ACCORD is uniquely structured as a singer-led choral ensemble which collaborates with a new conductor in each concert to create distinctive concert experiences for its audience. The mission of the 55-voice auditioned chorale is to enrich lives and build community through the power of choral music. It strives to enrich the cultural life of Minnesota communities through outreach, education and innovative performances. It is a 501(C) (3) nonprofit corporation that does not employ paid staff. Because of this, financial support given is tax deductible and goes directly to supporting its artistic mission and community outreach efforts.
