Released to the public on this night, the Shitty Barn will announce the 2017 season between sets by Driftless Sisters and Lou Shields!
Driftless Sisters are an indie folk duo comprised of banjo, guitar, harmonica, and percussion rooted in the Midwests topographical driftless region. Although not real sisters, Kat Karberg and Lily Sprengelmeyer grew up in different antique stores one block apart from each other in a quaint river town. The two produce their own eclectic sound, ranging from slow haunting melodies to upbeat driving folk-pop similar to Shakey Graves, First Aid Kit, Sylvan Esso, and The Head and the Heart. In July of 2015, the two recorded their first original nine-track album Sparks from the Fire, produced by Little Scream at Last Songbird Records in Montreal, Quebec; featuring four tracks with Richard Reed Parry of the Grammy award winning indie rock band Arcade Fire.
The two recently won a 365ink Impact Award for "performance" and were featured on an episode of the national television show American Pickers. Since their first show in March of 2015, Driftless Sisters have already played with such national touring acts as: Futurebirds, Jim Adkins (of Jimmy Eat World), The Way Down Wanderers, Little Scream, Dreamers.and are currently working their way towards a © Happy Meal sponsorship.

Lou Shields continues the tradition of American music with a solo-performance that pulls in styles of days-gone-by. Using his National Resonator Guitar or Banjo accompanied by a unique front porch style of foot percussion and harmonica, he uses his voice as an extension of the past. Lou carries a full sound during live performances while sharing stories, thoughts and experiences with the audience. He has toured throughout the United States and Europe for over 5 years and has released 3 full-length albums.
Lou grew up in Chicago, living downtown or in the South Suburbs his entire life. While downtown he owned an art gallery in Pilsen at 18th and Halsted. Lou often creates his art from experiences on the road. He will take a picture of an old home in Mississippi and then draw it later. He exhibits his art in Gallery shows or sells prints out of his merch box. He often blends his art and music by creating album art and show posters for himself and other musicians. Lou's heart is on the road, he enjoys traveling in his van or pulling his Vintage Shasta and visiting State or National Parks.
