Fiddle Master Class with Jeremy Kittel

ABOUT THE MASTER CLASSES
These master classes are designed for intermediate and advanced players, although less experienced players who are passionate about learning can are welcome to attend and observe the classes. Jeremy plays and performs in many musical styles and the master class will not focus on any particular genre of music. Rather, he will focus on technique, improvisation and strategies for developing your own musical voice.

ABOUT JEREMY
Jeremy Kittel is an award-winning fiddler, violinist, and composer. The Compass Records recording artist is a master in Celtic, classical, jazz, and bluegrass traditions, and is gifted in fusing and revitalizing these diverse styles. Jeremy was a member of the Turtle Island Quartet for five years and has also worked with Mark OConnor, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, Paquito DRivera, My Morning Jacket and Jon Batiste and Stay Human. He has been a guest artist with several symphony orchestras, was twice featured on A Prairie Home Companion, and has performed around the world at venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Bonnaroo and the Celtic Connections Festival in Scotland.

Committed to the belief that music and the arts are central to the human experience, he is a passionate clinician and educator. He has taught at such programs as Berklee College of Music, Belmont University, The New School, International Music Academy of Pilsen, Zurich University of the Arts, Mark OConnor Strings Camps, the Swannanoa Gathering, and Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School.

Kittel has a masters degree in jazz performance from the Manhattan School of Music, and received the 2010 Emerging Artist Award from his alma mater, the University of Michigan. He has received numerous other awards over the years, including the US National Scottish Fiddle Championship, six Detroit Music Awards and two ASTA Alternative Style awards. He was also the first recipient of the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin.
