The Sac City Rollers are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the empowerment of teens, women, and the Sacramento community through acts of philanthropy and volunteerism, participation in public events and entertainment, and by fostering athletic competition and comradery in the sport of flat track roller derby at local, national, and international levels.
At each game, the Sac City Rollers host another local charity to help raise awareness and funding for other area non-profit organizations; the SCR Charity of the Month for February is Save Ourselves.
Save Ourselves (SOS) works to enhance the lives of women and men as they travel along their breast cancer journey. SOS hosts many different support groups in Sacramento (led by experienced, professionally trained facilitators who are breast cancer survivors and thrivers) as well as providing the SOS Helpline, available 24-hours a day for those who want to speak with someone else who has breast cancer, those in need of information and help in understanding their breast cancer, and for those seeking a caring, supportive contact. Save Ourselves exists so that no one has to go through breast cancer alone.
