Bucky Pizzarelli Trio with Russ Kassoff - Piano / Martin Pizzarelli - Bass
A Rare NYC Appearance Recreating the Magic of The Cafe Pierre.
A superior guitarist appreciated by swing musicians in particular, the legendaryBucky Pizzarellihas been a fixture in jazz and the studios since the early50s. Self-taught,Pizzarellihas long been a master of the seven-string guitar. He toured with Vaughn Monroebefore and after a stint in the military. In 1952,Pizzarelli joined the staff of NBC and 12 years later he switched to ABC; in addition, he worked with the Three Sounds(1956-1957) and had several tours with Benny Goodman. In the 1970s he was more active in jazz, co-leading a duo with George Barnesand working with Zoot Sims,Bud Freeman, and Stéphane Grappelli, among many others. Pizzarelli has since kept up a busy recording schedule and plays often at jazz parties.
Bucky has also recorded with his son, John Pizzarelli, on an occasional basis since the early 80s along with Martin Pizzarelli on bass, including the albums Nirvana(1995), Solos & Duets(1996), Contrasts(1999), Passionate Guitars(2001), and Generations(2007). Also in 2007 the senior Pizzarelli recorded 5 for Freddie: Buckys Tribute to Freddie Green on the Arbors label. Russ Kassoff was a member of the historic Bucky Pizzarelli trio performing at the Cafe Pierre for many years during the mid-1980s.

Currently he serves as music director toRita Moreno. He has accompaniedFrank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli, Rita Moreno, Charles Aznavour, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Vic Damone, Carly Simon, Debbie Gravitte and Luciano Pavarotti in a lifetime career of spectacular concerts. He has played with Bucky Pizzarelli on countless concerts, gigs, parties, most notably a stint at the historic Cafe Pierre in the 1980s as a member of the Bucky Pizzarelli trio!His CDBIRD FLY BYwas in the top 10 for 52 weeks and achieved #1 status in 2010 on the Jazz channel of Music Choice. Martin Pizzarelli is a renowned double bassist known for his work with his father, legendary guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, and brother, guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli. He grew up in Saddle River, NJ, where at a young age he became accustomed to weekly visits from Benny Goodman, Teddy Wilson, Zoot Sims, Clark Terry, Sonny Stitt and Ray Brown. Martin, along with his brother and Pianist Ray Kennedy, famously opened for Frank Sinatras world tour in 1993. Since then he has endured a remarkable tour schedule of roughly 200 dates per year throughout all corners of the globe. TV appearances include Jay Leno, David Letterman, Conan OBrien, venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to the Blue Note Jazz Club, and work with the Boston Pops, New York Pops, San Diego Symphony, Dallas Symphony and New Jersey Symphony orchestras. Martin has also worked often with jazz pianist Monty Alexander and Daniel Jobim, the grandson of Antonio Carlos Jobim. In 2004, he released and recorded his own trio CD with Bucky Pizzarelli and Ray Kennedy, and has appeared as a sideman on over 30 albums.
