Événement

A Day in the Life of France
Students will discover French culture through informal discussions and art activities at LA museums. The series culminates in a hands-on cooking class with Maite Gomez-Rejon of ArtBites.

Friday 3/3:  Impressionism through Cubism at the Norton Simon Museum
Travel to 17th century France to see how the court lived and how their extravagant lifestyle led to a revolution. Discover the global changes that took place in the 18th and 19th centuries and learn how these changes affected the visual arts, foods, and daily life in France through an informal conversation at the NSM. (The group will meet at the museum entrance.)

Friday 3/24:  Cubism through the School of Paris and Surrealism at LACMA
Continue the evolution of Modern Art beginning with Cubism, where we left off at the Norton Simon. Meet the 20th century artists that made Paris the artistic center of the world, and, just how we saw the changes in art that occurred after the French Revolution, discover how artists reflected the first World War. Then participate in a gallery activity inspired by the Surrealists. (The group will meet in front of the Art of the Americas building.)
