An Evening of Classical Music Stars!
Join NY METROPOLITAN OPERA soprano Amy Shoremount-Obra, INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED violin virtuoso Eric Silberger, and DISTINGUISHED pianist Carlin Ma, as they present a variety of solo and chamber masterpieces by Rachmaninoff, Strauss, Piazzolla, Debussy, Mendelssohn and more!
Metropolitan Opera Principal Artist, soprano AMY SHOREMOUNT-OBRA made her much anticipated Metropolitan Opera Debut in October 2014 as First Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, singing all nine performances of the opera. Recent operatic engagements have included Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with Opera Las Vegas, The Savannah Voice Festival, and NYC's new Venture Opera, Marchesa in Verdi's Un Giorno di Regno with Odyssey Opera of Boston, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte with Annapolis Opera, and most recently, Leonore in Beethoven's Fidelio with Grand Harmonie. Ms. Shoremount-Obra has appeared at Carnegie Hall as the Soprano soloist in Fauré's Requiem, Brahms Requiem, and Schuberts Mass in G and at David Geffen Hall as the Soprano Soloist in Verdi's Requiem. She was a National Semi-Finalist and New York Regional Winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and the Juilliard School. Ms. Shoremount-Obra will return to the Metropolitan Opera stage in Fall 2017. Ms. Shoremount-Obra was featured in SoundBite in the May 2016 issue of Opera News.
Virtuoso violinist ERIC SILBERGER is the 2016 Classical Recording's Young Artist of the Year. He is a prize winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition and the Michael Hill International Violin Competition. Mr Silberger's performances have been described by critics as "spine-tingling - astonishing" (The Guardian), "dazzling virtuoso playing" (The Washington Post), "impeccable level of playing, a wonderful musician" (Heather Kurzbauer, The Strad), and "...he has got everything in his favour, technique, composure and personality. We are on the eve of a great soloist" (El Pais, Spain).He received his Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School. Mentors have included Glenn Dicterow, Itzhak Perlman, Pinchas Zukerman, Robert Mann, and Dorothy Delay, Maestro Lorin Maazel, among others. Mr. Silberger plays on a rare 1757 J.B. Guadagnini violin on generous loan from the Sau-Wing Lam collection.
Pianist CARLIN MA has dedicated her life to music and the arts, including solo piano, chamber music, photography, and multidisciplinary projects. As a pianist, she has performed for audiences at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center, Ravinia Festival, Lübeck Musik Hochschule in Germany for the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Capella Hall and Philharmonic Hall of St. Petersburg, Russia, Blaisdell Concert Hall for Hawaii International Music Festival, and Seiji Ozawa Hall for the Tanglewood Music Festival. Ms. Ma finds it equally meaningful to initiate performances in local venues, including the inaugural Musicians@Google series in Seattle. She holds a Masters Degree of piano performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Bachelors and Performers Degree from Indiana University. Her mentors include Menahem Pressler, Yoshi Nagai, Arnaldo Cohen, Evelyne Brancart, Emile Naoumoff, and Karen Taylor. As a photographer, she has been published in various newspapers, including Seattle Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and front page feature in Symphony magazine. In addition to individuals, festivals and major organizations have invited her to photograph, including Aspen Music Festival, Music@Menlo, Seattle Symphony, and Ravinia Festival.

This concert of classical music is in support of the HAWAII INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL. Entering its second season, the Festival was founded by the artists to enrich the lives of the Hawaiian community by bringing first-rate performers to areas of Hawaii where access to classical music is limited.
