Programming Workshop: Image Processing for Beacon Color Detection

This year, the FTC autonomous period lends itself to image processing because of the images underneath the beacons. The latest version of the FTC app includes Vuforia from PTC, which can be used to locate the beacons' positions in the field of view. This class tackles the other half of the problem: finding the color of the beacons.

The class uses OpenCV (http://opencv.org/), which is an open source vision processing library for a variety of platforms, including Android. We will be using it to take a picture with the Android phone camera, process it, and output the beacon color for your opmode to use.

The class will be from 11am to 12 noon. It is the same class that we (team 7393) taught at the Maryland FTC kickoff event.

Since we have limited time, people who want to take this class should work through the setup instructions to the best of their ability. The setup is in the first half of the class document:

If you cannot complete the setup before the class, we will be available from 10am to 11am before the class starts to help you with it.
