Looking for the Holy Land
The story set forth in the Chinese Yi ethnic region in Daliang Mountain at the beginning of the last century, telling us about the pilgrimage of a Bimo (a prophet of the Yi ethnic group) who sought the holy land of Yi as his father's last wish.

The movie is a tragedy, advocating humanity and thought of mankind while unveiling the struggles of the distorted personality of that era, and conveys the positive side of human beings, especially love to the audience with a touching tone.

Shama Dayi, a successor of Bimo, grew up with his mother. His father left them before he was born to go on a pilgrimage to the white holy land of Yi. It was not until he was 8 years old that he saw his father, or rather his father's restless spirit whose death remains a mystery. Dayi got his father's last wish from his restless eyes and learned of his journey from his father's precious scriptures passed down from the ancestors. After many years of hard study of the scriptures, Dayi became a well known Bimo at the age of 23. Just like his father, he left his mother to begin his pilgrimage through the same route his father had followed. At Bush Leto, a mysterious place where his father's pilgrimage ended, Dayi experiences the ups and downs of life and it adds to the tragedy of the story for his romance with Aji. The movie's highlight scene - Dayi walks through the barrage of the battlefield chanting the Requiem Mantra in the tribal vendetta, uttering the searing words from his heart: we are all offspring of Apujumu of Yi tribe! Why do we have to cut each other's throats?

In the end, Dayi continues his pilgrimage to the Yi's holy land.

This is a China-Canada co-production film.
