7th Annual Reel Independent Film Extravaganza Presents: Matinee Shorts
"Appassionato" is a short film that tells the story of Jacob Vaughn, an inner city middle school band director and tuba player who is unhappy with his current life. He believes that in order for him to truly be happy, he must reach his dream of becoming a full-time orchestral musician. Jacob quickly discovers that passion has the ability to blind a person to what was in front of their face all along.
"Blackbird" is a short experimental film dealing with colorism in the black community by Joy Etukudo.
Silent Brave focuses on the psychological effects of military sexual trauma when the cruel act is not reported.
"Detective MJ" is a tale of Detective Mason Jones aka MJ, a Washington, DC homicide detective who fights crime his own way which is the wrong way most of the time.
A Q&A with filmmakers and stars will be live after the screening.
