The 6
Gable Music Ventures is proud to present the twelfth of our "The 6" singer songwriter showcases. We can't believe this event has been running for a year! September features Avi Wisnia, Cat Cosentino, Kwesi Kankam, Maggie Gabbard, Tim Hein, and Brandon Walker. New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware are represented at this showcase.

Avi Wisnia - http://aviwisnia.com/
Singer/Songwriter Avi Wisnia presents an eclectic mix of refreshingly original songs, finding inspiration in classic Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950's west-coast jazz, and contemporary pop. A wordsmith as well as a composer and performer, Avi's clever lyrics give a knowing nod to those that came before, while his smooth vocals and deft piano skills assure you that this is truly something new

Cat Cosentino - http://www.ilovecatmusic.com/
CAT (born Catherine Elizabeth Cosentino) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. She grew up by the shore in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Cat received her first guitar when she was 10 years old. She began writing songs by the age of 17. She went on to study film and marketing at The College of New Jersey, while DJing at 91.3 WTSR and acting in independent films. After three years of gaining her sea-legs in the college and coffeehouse circuit, CAT began playing larger shows in the tri-state area by 2010. CAT opened for Jeffrey Gaines (Hero & In Your Eyes) in February 2011 at The Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY. She was invited back in July of that year, this time opening for The Head and The Heart
(Lost In My Mind).

Kwesi Kankam - http://www.kwesikankam.com/
Born within the glow of the northern lights of Anchorage, Alaska, Kwesi has seen much in his young life and time. From a West-African father of Ghanian descent and a mother from Ft. Wayne Indiana, his music is a tapestry of relaxed grooves and melodic hooks that stay true to his world view and artistic nature. Raised in Ohio, Kwesi soaked up sounds from his older brother's cd collection  folk, soul, rap, alternative and rock, setting the stage for his musical journey.
Lucky to have a sibling employed at a record shop, he would regularly co-op his brothers' discs, absorbing the styles of Dave Matthews, Boyz II Men, Rob Thomas, and Alanis Morrisette in the process. From Disney soundtracks to 90s Hip hop, traditional Ghanian gospel reggae and his father's 70s and 80s soul music, it
created a gumbo for Kwesi's early musical experience.

Maggie Gabbard - http://maggiegabbard.com/
At 17 years old, Maggie's voice and songs seem beyond her years. Born in Lexington, KY., Maggie started at a young age singing  turned on to music by her dads record collection, she was exposed to The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan and discovered Janis Joplin at 14years old. It's at that point that Maggie says "I began to listen to the words". Maggie's obsession with songwriting became apparent when notebook after notebook of her lyrics were found by her mom, under her bed. Later on artists' like Norah Jones, Mary J.
Blige and Alicia Keys had a powerful influence on her singing. The marriage of these musical influences are evident in her songs. Her passionate, pop soulful melodies and lyrics tell her story. A story about not giving up, keeping your head held high and carrying on
through it all. Maggie is looking forward to the release of her first EP in 2012 produced by Ritchie Rubini. Stay tuned!

Brandon Walker - http://brandonwalkermusic.com/
Music had always been Brandon's passion (well, music and soccer), so he decided to turn a song called Chinese Food on Christmas that he had written for a college songwriting class into a music video. This
turned out pretty well, as Brandon's video accrued over 2 million views, got him some international press coverage, and even a few marriage proposals. Brandon was happy. For the first time in his life he realized that he could turn his passion for music into a career. Following the success of Chinese Food on Christmas, Brandon got some gigs writing music for commercials, and he also began A Song a Month, a project in which he promised to write and record one song each month for one year that he would send out to his newly won-over fans. Several of these songs made their way onto his debut EP, "One Step Behind", which takes its title from his very first Song of the Month. When asked the meaning behind his EP's title, Brandon answered, "For me, the title sums up how I feel about
many aspects of my life, especially music."

Tim Hein - http://www.timheinmusic.net/
Raised on Long Island, New York, Tim Hein first began writing and performing music during his teenage years. His early days of musicianship were largely inspired by the local music scene of the time, and the drive of his like-minded friends and classmates from his
hometown. After high school, Tim moved to Delaware to pursue both an undergraduate degree and a passion for songwriting. After a brief return to New York, Tim has settled for the time being in the Philadelphia area. There he continues to write, perform, jam, and record his own brand of alternative folk-rock. He has taken the stage at renowned venues such at the Crazy Donkey and 169 Bar in New York, The North Star Bar and Milkboy Coffee in Philadelphia, and The World Cafe Live at the Queen in Delaware. He has also independently recorded and released two E.P.'s under his own name; Montauk, in 2008, and Subtle Histories, in 2011.
