BRIAN PAUL DOUGHERTY, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, PARTNER
DOUGHERTY+DOUGHERTY ARCHITECTS LLP

Brian Paul Dougherty, FAIA, LEED AP BD+C is a Senior Partner at Dougherty + Dougherty Architects LLP, specializing in the planning and design of contemporary educational, institutional, military, commercial, and health care facilities, in the public and private sector.  Mr. Dougherty contributes over forty years of experience in providing architectural services.

Brian contributes a career-long emphasis in energy conservation and sustainable design to each project.  Integrated into every project is a focus on holistic resource conservation shared with clients, community members and other professionals through lectures and presentations.  He is a LEED Accredited Professional in the USGBC program. Brian is one of the founding architect members of the CHPS Board and an active member of the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design Alumni Advisory Council. His credentials in this area have led to his role as a spokesperson for the architectural profession in State and National dialogue on the subject.

Mr. Dougherty served as Chair of the AIA National Ethics Council in 2005, completing six-year tenure.  His service to the AIA over the years at the Local, State and National levels has included California Architectural Foundation Trustee, Regional Director to the National AIA Board from 1993-1995 and 2000, and National Secretary from 1996 to 1998.  As a member of the AIA Regional and Urban Design Committee/PIA, Brian participated in several Regional Urban Design Assistant Teams. Brian currently serves as a member of the AIACC Capitol Forum, and continues to serve his Chapter as a member of the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee.

In recognition for his service to the profession Mr. Dougherty was elevated to the College of Fellows of the AIA in 1994.  This honor is the highest individual recognition that the American Institute of Architects bestows other than the Gold Medal.  This has been the catalyst for Brian to increase his vision for service to the community through the lens of Architecture.  He has most recently been appointed to the 2013 College of Fellows Jury for a three year term.
