About Paul Chasman
After the release of Paul Chasmans second album in 1981, Guitar Player Magazine called Pauls music, Imaginative, sensitive; a fine example of a guitarists devotion to the full exploration of his instruments capabilities. Thirty years later, after releasing his One Man Guitar Festival CD, Minor 7 Web Magazine continued the accolades with this description: Eclectic and inspiring (with a) keen ability and attention to craft...seamlessness and continuity that dont seem possible. Chasman is a fretboard master.
After the release of Guitar Festival which celebrated fifty years of guitar playing, Paul had surgery on his left hand (due to fifty years of guitar playing). During his recovery while he was barely able to hold a G chord, he wrote a song Then he wrote another and another--he couldnt stop! Three years and two CDs later, Paul Chasman has completed his reincarnation from mute guitarist to acclaimed singer/songwriter. His songs are a skillful mix of vivid poetry, formidable guitar playing, and biting satire.
Paul Chasmans musical career spans over fifty years during which time he has recorded over fifteen albums of his own music; performed solo, with blues, bluegrass, rock, and jazz bands, and in classical ensembles; composed the musical score for the feature film, The Last of Us; was contributing writer for Frets and Guitar Player Magazine; was musical director for the Port Angeles production of the play, Celebration; taught at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop for fifteen years; was a founding member of The Acoustic Guitar Summit along with Terry Robb, Doug Smith, and Mark Hanson with whom he played for its first nine years.
About Laurie Gatley
Laurie spent most of her young life singing in church/school choirs and choruses. In college, she was in the Portland State Choir, and has since spent the last 24 years singing 4-part a cappella Barbershop, in both quartet and chorus settings. These choruses, in the Sweet Adeline International organization, have won many contests and awards.
Laurie has sang back-up vocals in such bands as the Carl Smith Big Band, a 13-piece full swing ensemble, where she had a few solo lead songs. She has also sang backup vocals with the Carlee Smith Band, a funky dance group that plays both covers and originals.
Now, Laurie is singing with Paul Chasman as back-up vocalist and harmonizer as one of the two 'Great Gatleys', The original songs that Paul so brilliantly composes are witty, versatile and humorous, and lend a fabulous opportunity to harmonize.
About Dan Gatley
Dan began playing trumpet at an early age in grade school band, then went on to join the Imperial Cadet's Drum and Bugle Corps. He and his father used to play trumpet duets in the back seat of their car while camping on summer vacations.
He began playing electric bass in Junior High and found it to be his love, playing seventies rock and funk jazz. Since then, he has played with small to large ensembles such as Jamie's Rock and Roll Legends, Night Shift, Bandit, the Pranksters, and the Glen Tadina Big Band. He has traveled throughout the United States and Japan playing jazz, blues, classic rock, and country music genres, where played bass and also sang back-up and lead vocals. There are too many years of professional musicianship to name all of his experience.
Dan has studied music at Mt. Hood Community College, and has been able to read charts and music all his life. Dan also plays upright bass on his 100 year old instrument that was inherited from his father. He can use the bow and finger pick on the fretless neck of this amazing six foot acoustic bass viola.
About Tutu Kane
