Portland City Limits - Carl Solomon, Lincoln Crockett, & Avery Hill
About the Event

Carl Solomon, Avery Hill, and one more performer will present, "Portland City Limits." (More info to come.)

About Carl Solomon

Carl Solomon has been described as "The Weaver of New Americana Tales." After inheriting a beat poet's name, Carl grew up in Brooklyn N.Y. and later moved to Baltimore. Carl crafts songs from his journey through life, from carnival barker to counselor to songwriter. Carl creates portraits of characters, real or imagined. Carl listens to the stories that people share and borrows. He paints with strings instead of brushes, creating images that come to life. His use of language, recollections and humor reflects the diverse facets of the human experience which, when quilted together, form a collection of songs you wont soon forget.

About Lincoln Crockett

Singer/songwriter Chris Kokesh once referred to Lincoln Crocketts music as A kick in the pants with a hug. Like Hey, wake up and I understand, were all in this together. Willy Nelson has joked that he has only really ever written two songs: falling into love and falling out of love. Crockett jokes only one: It sucked, but I transcended it.

Lincoln Crockett is a healer. A young man with a knack for soothing harmonies and bluegrassy picking, his fluid themes and chords play to those private places only music can, where we are best expressed in melody and harmony. Earthy, grungy, acoustic prog-rock, new-grass, pop-folk with the social consciousness of Michael Franti, the clean honesty of James Taylor, the backward longing of Gillian Welch and grooves that are simultaneously upbeat and behind the beat.

About Avery Hill

An active member of the Artichoke community, Avery Hill independently released her first full-length album, Dreams & Ghosts, in 2015, which has taken her to different corners of the country, including the legendary Club Passim (formerly Club 47) in Cambridge, Mass., the historic Ozark Folk Center in Arkansas, and the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas as a Finalist in the prestigious New Folk Songwriting Contest. When it's time to come home, she looks forward to teaching classes at Artichoke each week and making music with her friends.
