Bucks County Symphony Orchestra's Family Concert
Strike up the Band!
On Sunday, December 4, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., the Bucks County Symphony Orchestra presents its annual Family Concert at Central Bucks High School East in Buckingham, Pennsylvania. Music Director Gary S. Fagin has chosen the theme Strike Up the Band!, and the concert promises to delight and entertain music lovers of all ages.
The Orchestra will be joined by the Cold Spring, Groveland and Kutz 6th Grade Bands, directed by Central Bucks music teacher Mark Appiotti. The combined bands and orchestra will perform Victor Herbert's March of the Toy Soldiers, Scott Watson's Dreidl Adventure, and "Trepak" from The Nutcracker.
A highlight of the afternoon's concert is a performance of the first movement of Kabalevsky's Violin Concerto, played by 7-year-old Nicholas Brady, a prize winner in the BCSO's Youth Concerto Competition.

Nicholas Brady (7) is a member of the Baroque Ensemble, directed by Aaron Picht at the Center of Gifted Young Musicians at Temple University. Nicholas studies violin with Irina Schuck and piano with Dr. Ariane Alexander. Previously he had studied violin with Victor Danchenko (Peabody Institute), Farkhad Khudyev (Monterey, CA) and Stephanie Brown (Carmel, CA).
At age four, Nicholas debuted at the Carmel Bach Festival, where he as the youngest performer in its 77 year-old history. He also joined Youth Music of Monterey County and was its youngest member in the orchestra's history. At five, he performed as soloist the First and Third Movements of Bach's A Minor Concerto with YMMC and Monterey Pops! Orchestras, respectively.
At six, Nicholas won first place--on both violin and piano--at the Crescendo International Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall. At seven, he won the Children's Division of Vivace Competition in Malvern, PA. In 2017, Nicholas will perform as a soloist with Ambler Symphony Orchestra and with Baroque Ensemble of Temple University Prep as well as at Delaware Valley Music Club.
