Marty Grosz & Friends
Marty Grosz is the simply one of the most entertaining performers around. The son of German Expressionist artist, born in Berlin in 1930. His vocals and sense of humor are reminiscent of of Fats Waller, and his driving rhythm guitar, played on a vintage Gibson L-5, swings like the Basie Band. His song introductions and stories are unmatched. He will be joined by the amazing Danny Tobais on Cornet and trumpet, Dan Block-reeds and Brian Nalepka-bass. They will be performing hot music from the 20's, 30's & 40's, in the Venetian Club Ballroom, and there will be plenty of room for dancing! Marty has appeared on the Prairie Home Companion, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and has worked with Vince Giordano, bandleader of the Nighthawks, of 'Boardwalk Empire,' fame. Part of the Chestnut Hill Community Concert Series, Hosted by the Hot Club of Philadelphia, Weavers Way Coop, primary sponsor. 5% of the proceeds from this show will be donated to the WWC 'Food Moxie' Program. Photo credit-Lynn Redmile Note; Please call or email Barry Wahrhaftig for info. The Venetian Club Ballroom is rented to us for these shows, but they don't sell tickets, or list the info. The club does serve alcohol, but does not serve food. There are many fine restaurants in the area for dining before the show.
