Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale

Eggtooth Productions co-presents with Artsblock and the Franklin Community Co-operative.

John Bechtold explains his concept, Using the rich stories of The Winters Tale and Persephones descent and return to earth, we mount an immersive production across the five floors of the Arts Block. Using a combination of installation set, lighting and sound design to bring the building to life, audiences will be invited to explore the show with a high degree of autonomy, before being brought together for the final scene - the reveal/restoration of Hermione.

Audience members will be ushered into the building at 7:30 pm (2 pm on the Sunday Matinee on October 2). They will receive a short introduction and then will be allowed to experience the show throughout the building at their own pace. Stewards will be present on each floor to interface between the action/installations and the public.

Immersive theater is an exciting way to experience theatrical art that stimulates all five senses - sight and sound, as with conventional theater, but also touch, taste, and smell. The best known practitioner of this work may be the UKs Punchdrunk whose long running Sleep No More is a re-interpretation of Macbeth set in a 1930s hotel in NYC's Meatpacking District. John Bechtold is intimately connected with that show as worked with Punchdrunk for a year helping to build the Sleep No More productions in Boston and New York.
